Bonds drops in All-Star voting

NEW YORK, June 11 (UPI) -- San Francisco's Barry Bonds has fallen out of the top three spots for a starting role in voting for the All-Star Game's National League squad.

Bonds was third in the voting last week, just ahead of Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs. This week Soriano, who hit three homers in a game at Atlanta Friday, has moved ahead of Bonds. Soriano has 693,255 votes, which is more than 42,000 ahead of the seven-time National League MVP.

The 78th All-Star Game is scheduled for July 10 in San Francisco.

New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran leads all NL vote-getters with 1,017,795 tallies. Ken Griffey Jr. of the Cincinnati Reds is second among outfielders.

Russell Martin of the Los Angeles Dodgers leads catchers, Philadelphia's Chase Utley leads second basemen, New York's David Wright leads third basemen, New York's Jose Reyes leads shortstops and St. Louis' Albert Pujols leads first basemen.
