ST. LOUIS, June 10 (UPI) -- A two-homer, five-RBI effort from Albert Pujols Sunday helped give the St. Louis Cardinals a 9-6 decision over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The win went to St. Louis starter Todd Wellemeyer (2-1), who benefited from the run support while giving up five runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

The Cardinals handed the Angels just their second loss in nine games.

Jered Weaver started for the Angels and had to leave the game with the lead when he developed tightness in his lower back. Chris Bootcheck (1-1) was charged with three runs in two innings to take the loss.

The second homer of the day for Pujols came in the fifth and put the Cardinals in front, 6-4. He also hit a two-run blast in the third that briefly tied the contest.
