Chiefs, Dolphins complete Green trade

MIAMI, June 6 (UPI) -- Miami and Kansas City Wednesday completed the trade of Chiefs quarterback Trent Green to the Dolphins.

The 13-year veteran played with Washington when Dolphins Coach Cam Cameron was an assistant for the Redskins in the late 1990s. At 37 years old, Green likely will be Miami's starting signal-caller next season.

The deal was finalized after Daunte Culpepper was told earlier in the day the Dolphins decided to go in another direction at the position and he would be traded while he still had value.

In six seasons with Kansas City, Green completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 21,459 yards and 118 touchdowns with 82 interceptions.

He originally was an eighth-round draft pick by San Diego in 1993, and is one of four players in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in three or more straight seasons (2003-05), joining Hall of Famers Dan Fouts (1979-81) and Dan Marino (1984-86), as well as the Colts' Peyton Manning (1999-2004).
