MLB: Philadelphia 9, San Francisco 8

PHILADELPHIA, June 3 (UPI) -- Shane Victorino hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth Sunday as the Philadelphia Phillies edged San Francisco, 9-8.

Philadelphia scored five times in the seventh to take an 8-7 lead, but San Francisco's Kevin Frandsen hit a game-tying single in the top of the ninth.

Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer; Chase Utley hit a solo homer, scored twice and had two hits; Aaron Rowand had a two-run homer among two runs and three hits; and Wes Helms hit a two-run double for the Phillies -- who have split their last four games.

The winner was Antonio Alfonseca (3-1).

San Francisco's Randy Winn and Bengie Molina both hit solo homers.

Fred Lewis and Ryan Klesko hit RBI singles; Omar Vizquel had two hits and one RBI; Molina had two runs and three hits; and a run scored on a wild pitch for the Giants -- who have lost three of four.

The loser was Kevin Correia (1-2).
