Pistons' McDyess won't be suspended

NEW YORK, June 1 (UPI) -- Detroit Pistons forward Antonio McDyess won't be suspended for Game Six of the Eastern Conference Final against Cleveland on Saturday.

McDyess was ejected in the first quarter of Game Five Thursday night when he was charged for a hard foul against the Cavaliers' Anderson Varejao. Game officials huddled after the play and whistled McDyess for a Flagrant 2 foul, which leads to an automatic ejection.

The Detroit Free Press reported McDyess appeared to clothesline Varejao as he attempted to make a basket underneath the hoop with 28 seconds left in the quarter.

NBA Vice President of Operations Stu Jackson said, "After a lengthy review, the play did not warrant a suspension."

McDyess harshly criticized referee Bennett Salvatore before leaving but no additional punishment was assessed.
