Tigers put Rodney on DL

DETROIT, May 26 (UPI) -- The Detroit Tigers put reliever Fernando Rodney on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, saying he has biceps tendinitis.

The move is retroactive to May 21, and was announced shortly before Saturday's home game against Cleveland.

The Tigers noted on their Web site that Rodney said he felt tightness in his shoulder while warming up in the bullpen this week.

Rodney is 1-4 in 19 appearances this season (21 innings). He has walked six batters and struck out 18, but has not pitched since consecutive outings last Saturday and Sunday against St. Louis.

To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, the Tigers recalled right-hander Zach Miner from Class AAA Toledo. Miner made one start this season in place of Mike Maroth on May 17. He allowed one unearned run and six hits in 5 1/3 innings in a 2-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
