CORNING, N.Y., May 25 (UPI) -- Beth Bader shot a 6-under 66 Friday and vaulted one shot in front after 36 holes of the Corning Classic at Corning, N.Y.
Players had to abandon the course twice because of inclement weather, but scoring conditions remained good and Bader grabbed the first 36-hole lead of her tour career.
"I'm in uncharted territory a little bit," she said. "But I have had first-round leads in the past and haven't played well the second day, so I feel very good about coming back and shooting the score I did today."
Bader's round was highlighted by three straight birdies beginning at the fifth.
Charlotta Sorenstam, who led after the first round, shot a 1-over 73 and was tied with six other players for 11th at 137.
