NBA: San Antonio 108, Utah 100

SAN ANTONIO, May 20 (UPI) -- Tim Duncan poured 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Sunday, leading San Antonio to a 108-100 victory over Utah in Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference finals.

The Spurs spurted to a 54-36 halftime lead with a 32-16 second quarter, and then held on through the second half when Utah out-scored them 64-54.

Also for the Spurs, Manu Ginobili had 23 points and 10 assists, and Tony Parker had 21 points, six assists and three steals. Michael Finley and Fabricio Oberto chipped in 14 points apiece.

Deron Williams, who helped in a fourth-quarter charge that fell short, led Utah with game-high 34 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Carlos Boozer had 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Matt Harpring and Mehmet Okur both scored 10 points for the Jazz, who trailed by as many as 18 points early in the fourth.

Game 2 is Tuesday in San Antonio.
