MLB: Minnesota 16, Detroit 4

MINNEAPOLIS, May 13 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter hit two homers and drove in seven runs Sunday as Minnesota ripped Detroit 16-4.

The homers accounted for five runs and he added a two-run double.

Mike Redmond hit a solo homer, while Michael Cuddyer hit a three-run blast and four RBI for the Twins. Luis Castillo scored two runs and two drove in two runs, and Justin Morneau came back the day after breaking his nose with three runs and three hits for the Twins, who broke a four-game skid.

Winner Boof Bonser (1-1) gave up four earned runs and six hits in five innings.

Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run homer, and Curtis Granderson and Placido Polanco had one RBI each for Detroit. Granderson and Sean Casey both had two hits for the Tigers, who had a three-game winning streak broken.

Loser Virgil Vasquez (0-1) yielded six earned runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings.
