O'Hair leads by 1 at Players Championship

PONTE VEDRA, Fla., May 12 (UPI) -- Sean O'Hair birdied his final three holes Saturday to post a six-under 66 for a one-stroke lead over Phil Mickelson after Day 3 of The Players Championship.

O'Hair finished three rounds at 9-under 207.

Mickelson, who held the lead after the first two rounds, closed with a birdie Saturday for a 69. Both he and O'Hair will be seeking their first Players Championship title Sunday.

Former U.S. Amateur champion Jeff Quinney had a 64 Saturday and is tied for third place with Peter Lonard, who bogeyed the last hole to settle for a 68. The two are at 209. Lonard had a double-eagle on the par-5 second hole.

There was very little wind Saturday at Sawgrass so there were a lot of low scores. Not so for the world's No. 1-ranked player, Tiger Woods, however, who shot a 1-over 73. He is at 5-over 221 -- 14 shots behind O'Hair.
