MLB: Chi. White Sox 3, Minnesota 0

MINNEAPOLIS, May 10 (UPI) -- Jose Contreras pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout Thursday, propelling the Chicago White Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

In his best effort in nearly two years, Contreras (3-3) walked one batter and struck out four.

A.J. Pierzynski, Ryan Sweeney and Pablo Ozuna all hit RBI singles, while Pierzynski and Ozuna had two hits apiece for the White Sox, who won twice in the three-game series and have four wins in their last five games overall.

Jason Kubel had two of the five hits for the Twins, who have dropped three of four.

Losing pitcher Carlos Silva (2-3) was charged with three earned runs on six hits and one walk in six innings with one walk. Silva failed to record a strikeout.

Minnesota relievers Dennys Reyes and Pat Neshek combined to strike out five in the last two innings.
