Top seed reaches quarters in Prague

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 9 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed Marion Bartoli reached the quarterfinals of the Prague Open Wednesday with a 6-3, 6-4, decision over Viktoriya Kutuzova.

Bartoli's win set up a meeting with Jarmila Gajdosova in the clay court event that serves as a prelude to the French Open.

Third-seeded Olga Poutchkova lost in the second round to Julia Schruff, 6-2, 6-2, while No. 7 seed Virginie Razzano was an upset victim against Klara Zakopalova, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).

Nathalie Dechy, the fifth seed, completed her first-round match by defeating Renata Voracova, 7-5, 6-0. That match had been suspended by darkness Tuesday, with Dechy owning a 2-0 lead in the second set.
