LEXINGTON, Ky., May 4 (UPI) -- An updated weather forecast indicated the Kentucky Derby could be hampered by thunderstorms and a sloppy, muddy track Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs.
The post-time temperature for the 1 1/4 mile Run for the Roses is expected to be 75 degrees.
Twenty 3-year-olds are entered for the first jewel in horse racing's Triple Crown, with Arkansas Derby winner Curlin the morning line favorite at 7-2.
Curlin will start from post 2 with Robby Albarado riding.
"A horse of his size can take his position," trainer Steve Asmussen said. "But we would have preferred to be further outside."
The 4-1 second choice is Tampa Bay Derby winner Street Sense, with Nobiz Like Showbiz and Circular Quay both coming in at 8-1 odds.
All the of the jockeys will weigh 126 pounds.
