NHL: Anaheim 2, Vancouver 1 (2OT)

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 4 (UPI) -- Scott Niedermayer scored 4:30 into the second overtime Thursday night, allowing Anaheim to reach the Western Conference finals with a 2-1 win over Vancouver.

The Ducks will now take on either Detroit or San Jose for the right to play for the Stanley Cup.

Anaheim ousted Vancouver in five games, winning the last two in overtime.

Samuel Pahlsson gave Anaheim the lead 14 seconds into the second period with Niedermayer assisting on the goal. Alexandre Burrows tied it 11 minutes deep into the third.

The Ducks outshot the Canucks by a staggering margin of 66-29. It was the first time the teams had ever met in a playoff series.
