SAN FRANCISCO, May 3 (UPI) -- Barry Bonds moved within 12 home runs of Hank Aaron's all-time record Wednesday and keyed an eighth-inning rally as San Francisco downed Colorado 5-3.
Bonds' two-run shot in the fourth inning was his ninth of the season and the 743rd home run of his career.
The Giants still trailed by a run going into the eighth, but Bonds delivered a bases-loaded single that scored Ryan Klesko and Randy Winn. Bengie Molina singled in a run later in the inning.
The comeback made a winner out of Brad Hennessey (1-1), who recorded the final out of the eighth inning and also worked the ninth.
Colorado starter Jeff Francis (1-4) cruised through seven innings before putting two runners on with one out in the eighth. Bonds' two-run single came off Manuel Corpas.
