KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 3 (UPI) -- Ross Gload had four hits and two RBI Thursday afternoon as the Kansas City Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 5-2.

In his best game of the season to date, the first baseman also scored three times.

Billy Butler had two hits and one RBI, while John Buck and Tony Pena each had an RBI for the Royals, who won the last two games after dropping the first two games of the four-game series.

Winner Gil Meche (3-1) allowed two earned runs and only two hits in seven innings, with one walk and six strikeouts.

Joakim Soria earned his fifth save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth.

Vladimir Guerrero hit a two-run homer and had two of the three hits for the Angels.

Losing pitcher Jered Weaver (1-3) was charged with three earned runs and seven hits in six innings, with three walks and nine strikeouts.
