Schwartzel wins the Spanish Open

MADRID, April 29 (UPI) -- South Africa's Charl Schwartzel shot 5-under-par 67 Sunday to win the European Tour's Spanish Open Golf Tournament at Madrid.

Schwartzel's final total was 16-under 272, one shot better than India's Jyoti Randhawa. Schwartzel sealed his second European Tour title with a 15-foot eagle putt at the 16th hole.

He needed the eagle because he bogeyed the 18th hole.

"I put a great swing on it, and the shot couldn't have come at a better time," Schwartzel said. "People said I'd won on the European Tour before but that was in South Africa. I said I could do it in Europe too and it was just a matter of time before it all clicked in."

Randhawa (67) finished alone in second at 15-under 273.

England's Simon Dyson (71) tied for third place with Spain's Carlos Rodiles (72) at 14-under 274.

Defending champion Niclas Fasth (71) of Sweden was 6-under 282 to tie for 31st place.
