Cavalleri dethrones Ochoa in Mexico

MORELIA, Mexico, April 29 (UPI) -- Silvia Cavalleri shot a closing 6-under-par 66 Sunday to win the LPGA's Corona Championship at Morelia, Mexico, by two shots.

Cavalleri's 72-hole total, 20-under 272, was worth $195,000.

World No. 1 and defending champion Lorena Ochoa (68) and Julieta Granada (68) tied for second at 18-under 274.

Ochoa was playing before friends and family in her native Mexico.

"It is an advantage to come from behind," Cavalleri had said Saturday about the final round. "Yes, it motivates me to defeat the number one player, but my major motivation is to win my first tournament on the LPGA Tour."

Pat Hurst (70) was fourth at 15-under 277, and Na On Min (72) was fifth at 13-under 279.

MasterCard Classic champion Meaghan Francella (66), Kyeong Bae (69) and this year's Fields Open winner, Stacy Prammanasudh (70), shared sixth place at 12-under 280.
