NHL: Detroit 3, San Jose 2

DETROIT, April 28 (UPI) -- Pavel Datsyuk scored at 14:36 of the third Saturday, as the Detroit Red Wings beat San Jose, 3-2, to even their Western Conference semifinal series, 1-1.

Detroit trailed, 2-1, heading into the third period, but quickly tied the game on a short-handed goal by Daniel Cleary.

Henrik Zetterberg added a goal and an assist, Datsyuk also had an assist, and Dominik Hasek stopped 17 of 19 shots for the Red Wings, who travel to San Jose for Game 3 Monday night.

Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist, Jonathan Cheechoo scored once, and Evgeni Nabokov made 19 saves on 22 shots for the Sharks, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

San Jose went 0-for-6 on the power play while Detroit was 0-for-3.
