TORONTO, April 28 (UPI) -- Hank Blalock hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the top of the 10th inning Saturday afternoon, as the Texas Rangers edged Toronto, 9-8.
Blalock had one run, two hits and two RBI. Gerald Laird had a solo homer among his one run, three hits and three RBI; Mark Teixeira had three runs, three hits, including a solo homer, and one RBI; Frank Catalanotto drove in a run; and Michael Young had two runs and two hits for the Rangers -- who have split their last four games.
The winner was reliever Akinori Otsuka (1-0).
Joaquin Benoit earned his first save of the season.
Adam Lind hit a two-run homer, Frank Thomas hit a solo shot, and five others drove in one run for the Blue Jays, who have split their last four.
The losing pitcher was Brian Tallet (0-1).
