DETROIT, April 28 (UPI) -- Jason Kubel drove in three runs Saturday afternoon as the Minnesota Twins routed the Detroit Tigers, 11-3.
Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer hit solo home runs; Torii Hunter had two runs, two hits and one RBI; Morneau had three runs and three hits; Michael Cuddyer hit a sacrifice fly; and a run scored on a fielding error for the Twins, who have won their last two games.
Winner Carlos Silva (2-1) gave up three earned runs and 10 hits in six innings, with one walk and four strikeouts.
Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run double, the 300th double of his career; Carlos Guillen had three hits, including an RBI double; Placido Polanco had two runs and three hits; and Gary Sheffield had a run and three hits for the Tigers, who have lost three of four.
Losing pitcher Justin Verlander (1-1) gave up five earned runs and eight hits in three innings.
