MLB: St. Louis 7, Cincinnati 5

ST. LOUIS, April 26 (UPI) -- Skip Schumaker had three hits and two RBI Thursday afternoon to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds, 7-5.

Schumaker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, when St. Louis scored three times to overcome a 4-1 deficit.

Aaron Miles, Scott Spiezio and Adam Kennedy all had one run, two hits and one RBI; and So Taguchi added an RBI single for the Cardinals, who have won their last two games and three of four.

The winner was Russ Springer (1-0) in relief, while Jason Isringhausen recorded his sixth save of the season.

Brandon Phillips hit a two-run homer and had two hits and three RBI, David Ross hit a solo homer, and one run scored on an eighth-inning wild pitch by Ryan Franklin for the Reds, who have dropped four of their last five games.

Losing pitcher Kyle Lohse (1-1) was charged with five earned runs and 11 hits in six innings.
