MLB: Minnesota 1, Kansas City 0

MINNEAPOLIS, April 26 (UPI) -- Mike Redmond hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning for the game's lone run Thursday afternoon as the Minnesota Twins edged Kansas City, 1-0.

The contest was scoreless for 10 ½ innings, before Justin Morneau and Jason Tyner preceded Redmond's game-winning hit with one-out singles.

Redmond and Jason Kubel had two hits each for the Twins, who broke a four-game losing streak.

The winner was Juan Rincon (1-0).

Mark Grudzielanek and Alex Gordon both had two hits for the Royals, who had only five hits, and have lost three of their last four games.

The losing pitcher was Todd Wellemeyer (0-1).

Both teams had numerous chances to score in regulation. Kansas City stranded 14 runners and Minnesota left 11 men on base.
