MLB: Colorado 11, New York Mets 5

FLUSHING, N.Y., April 25 (UPI) -- Willy Taveras had five hits and Todd Helton four Wednesday helping the Colorado Rockies to an 11-5 victory over the New York Mets.

Taveras and Helton also each scored two runs as Colorado piled up 20 hits in support of Josh Fogg (1-1). In addition to seven solid innings pitching, Fogg chipped in two hits and scored twice.

Helton got the Rockies going with a first-inning RBI single and Colorado added five runs in the third. Fogg started that rally with a single and Taveras reached on a bunt. Matt Holliday got Fogg home and Helton drove in his second run of the game with another single ahead of John Mabry's three-run home run.

All the runs were charged to Mets starter Mike Pelfrey (0-2).

Colorado scored three times in the fourth -- with Fogg and Taveras again starting the inning with singles and Matt Holliday doubling in two runs -- and once each in the fifth and sixth innings to build an 11-0 lead before New York managed a run.
