MLB: Tampa Bay 6, NY Yankees 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 24 (UPI) -- Carl Crawford hit his first career grand slam in the seventh inning Tuesday to lead the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to a 6-4 win over the New York Yankees.

Crawford went 4-for-4 with two runs scored for the Devil Rays. Ty Wigginton added two hits and a run scored.

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter left the game after he was hit by a pitch in the first inning. Jeter has a bruised left thigh.

Alex Rodriguez, who on Monday became the first player in Major League Baseball history to hit 14 home runs in the first 18 games of a season, finished 0-for-3 with a walk to end his 23-game hitting streak that dated to last season.

New York's Chien-Ming Wang (0-1) was activated from the disabled list before the game and pitched 6 1/3 innings in his first start of the season. Wang was charged with four runs on nine hits.
