KNOXVILLE, Tenn., April 24 (UPI) -- SEC Player of the Year Chris Lofton said Tuesday he would return to the Tennessee Volunteers basketball team for his senior season.
Lofton, a guard, said he "was not guaranteed to be selected in the first round" of the NBA draft and so would return to the Vols.

"Coming back for my senor year will give me the opportunity to work on my game so I can become a better player," Lofton said in a statement. "There are also a lot of things that we can accomplish here as a team."
Lofton, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard, led Tennessee and the Southeastern Conference in scoring with a 20.8 point-per-game average.
Tennessee went 24-11 last season and were defeated 85-84 by Ohio State in the third round of the NCAA tournament.
