NBA: Golden State 97, Dallas 85

DALLAS, April 22 (UPI) -- Baron Davis had 33 points and 14 rebounds Sunday night, as the Golden State Warriors beat Dallas, 97-85, in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinals.

Davis also dished out eight assists. Stephen Jackson scored 23 points and Jason Richardson scored 13 for the Warriors, who had swept the Mavericks in three regular-season games.

Josh Howard had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Dirk Nowitzki finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the cold-shooting Mavericks -- who shot just 35.3 percent from the floor.

Nowitzki connected on just 4-of-16 shots.

The Mavericks pulled to within 80-78 with 7:10 left, but Golden State went on a 17-7 run to put the game away.

Game 2 is set for Wednesday night in Dallas.
