MLB: Atlanta 9, N.Y. Mets 6

NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) -- Kelly Johnson hit two home runs Sunday afternoon as the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets, 9-6.

Johnson's three-run blast in the top of the eighth put the Braves ahead for good, after Mets had scored five runs in bottom of the sixth for a 6-3 lead.

Johnson finished with three runs, three hits and four RBI.

Edgar Renteria also hit a three-run homer. Jeff Francoeur hit a two-run single, and Andruw Jones had a run and two hits for the Braves, who regained first place in the NL East with their third win in five games.

The winner was ex-Met Tyler Yates (1-0).

Bob Wickman recorded his sixth save of the season.

Jose Reyes hit a three-run triple, Shawn Green hit a solo home run, and both Jose Valentin and Paul Lo Duca hit RBI singles for the Mets, who have split their last four games.

The loser was Aaron Heilman (1-2).
