NBA: Detroit 91, Boston 89

BOSTON, April 19 (UPI) -- Ronald Murray sank a jump shot as time expired Wednesday as the Detroit Pistons slipped by the Boston Celtics 91-89.

Boston trailed 89-85 with 1:03 remaining, but Ryan Gomes sank a jumper and Rajon Rondo made two free throws to set the stage for Murray's game-winner.

Amir Johnson had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Murray had 16 points and five assists to lead the Pistons. Jason Maxiell and Antonio McDyess both scored 11 points for Detroit, which locked up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Pistons rested their starters in their final regular season game.

Rondo led Boston with 19 points and nine assists. Allan Ray scored 18 points, and Al Jefferson added 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Celtics, who finished in last place in the Atlantic Division, 34 games under .500.

Boston missed the playoffs for the second straight season.
