NHL: Vancouver 5, Dallas 4 (4 OT)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 12 (UPI) -- Henrik Sedin scored with 1:54 remaining in the fourth overtime Wednesday night as Vancouver beat the Dallas Stars, 5-4.

Vancouver's victory came in the opener of the best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal Stanley Cup series.

Twin brother Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist; while Roberto Luongo made 62 saves on 66 shots for the Canucks, who will be back at home for Game Two on Friday night.

Ladislav Nagy of Dallas scored at 13:46 of the third period for a 4-4 tie and create the extra time.

Vancouver had assumed a 4-2 lead 7:36 into the third on a Bryan Smolinski goal.

Brenden Morrow had a goal and an assist; and Marty Turco stopped 40 of 44 shots for the Stars, who also were seeded second in last year's Western Conference playoffs but got ousted in five games by Colorado in the quarterfinals.
