MLB: Colorado 6, LA Dodgers 3

LOS ANGELES, April 9 (UPI) -- Jeff Baker was 3-for-4 with a triple Monday while leading the Colorado Rockies to a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Joe Francis (1-0) got the win by working 6 2/3 innings while allowing two runs on five hits and three walks, and striking out six.

Three relievers combined to give up one run and two hits over the remaining 2 1/3 innings.

Garrett Atkins hit a three-run home run for the Rockies. Brad Hawpe had a double and a pair of runs scored.

Jason Schmidt (1-1) went four-plus innings for the Dodgers, allowing four runs and seven hits, and striking out six. Schmidt, who left the game with tightness in his right hamstring, also hit his first home run of the season.

Juan Pierre and Ramon Martinez each doubled and knocked in a run for the Dodgers, who lost their fifth home opener in the last six years.
