NHL: Pittsburgh 2, N.Y. Rangers 1

PITTSBURGH, April 7 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves Saturday night, as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New York Rangers, 2-1.

Sidney Crosby had two assists for the Penguins, to finish the season with 120 points -- nine points ahead of San Jose's Jose Thornton -- positioning himself to become the youngest player ever to win the Art Ross trophy, awarded to the NHL points champion.

Gary Roberts and Mark Recchi scored for Pittsburgh, which will travel to Ottawa for the first round of the playoffs.

Petr Prucha scored and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots for the Rangers, who closed out the regular season with two losses in their final three games and head for Atlanta to play the Thrashers in a first-round Stanley Cup series.

Roberts opened the scoring with a power-play goal at :53 of the second period, and then the Penguins went up, 2-0, with 4:06 remaining in the second when Recchi beat Lundqvist on a feed from Crosby.
