NHL: Phoenix 3, Vancouver 1

GLENDALE, Ariz., April 8 (UPI) -- Curtis Joseph made 23 saves and Derek Morris had a goal and an assist Sunday afternoon, as the Phoenix Coyotes beat Vancouver, 3-1.

Joseph has 446 career victories, one fewer than Terry Sawchuk, who is in fourth place on the NHL all-time wins list.

Bill Thomas and Jeremy Roenick scored for the Coyotes, who closed out a disappointing season with two wins in their last three games. Phoenix finished with the worst record in the Western Conference and the second-worst record in the NHL, and will miss the post-season for the fourth straight season.

Alex Burrows scored and Dany Sabourin made 23 saves for the Northwest Division champion Canucks, who have the home-ice advantage over the Dallas Stars in the first round of the playoffs beginning this week.
