DALLAS, April 8 (UPI) -- Mike Modano scored with 3:49 left in regulation Sunday afternoon, and a third-period comeback gave the Dallas Stars a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Modano assisted on a Sergei Zubov goal, Brenden Morrow scored and Marty Turco made 22 saves for Dallas, which finished a season with at least 50 wins for the third time in franchise history.
The Stars go to Vancouver this week for the start of a first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Canucks.
Jason Williams and Brian Bickell scored, and Nikolai Khabibulin allowed three goals on 33 shots for Chicago, which missed the playoffs for a fourth straight season.
After two scoreless periods, the two teams traded goals early in the third. Dallas struck first with Morrow's power-play goal, and then Williams tied it a minute later with a goal off a feed from Tony Salmelainen.
The Blackhawks went up, 2-1, on Bickell's goal, but the Stars got the equalizer just over a minute later when Zubov scored -- and the game remained tied at 2-2 until Modano wrapped up the scoring with his 22nd goal of the season.
