MLB: Pittsburgh 6, Cincinnati 3

CINCINNATI, April 8 (UPI) -- Jack Wilson hit a two-run homer Sunday afternoon to help the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Cincinnati, 6-3, and avoid a three-game sweep.

Wilson had two hits, Brad Eldred and Jason Bay hit solo home runs, and Eldred drove in two runs for the Pirates, who have won four of six to open the new season.

They are the surprise co-leaders with Cincinnati in the Central Division.

Winner Zack Duke (1-0) gave up three earned runs and six hits in six innings, with no walks and five strikeouts.

Salomon Torres retired the side in order in the ninth to register his fourth save of the season.

Ken Griffey Jr. knocked in two runs, Juan Castro hit an RBI double, while Adam Dunn had a run and two hits for the Reds, whose relievers had not given up a run in 14 2/3 innings before Sunday.

Losing pitcher Eric Milton (0-1) surrendered four earned runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
