NHL: Buffalo 4, Boston 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., April 5 (UPI) -- Derek Roy had a goal and an assist Thursday night to help the Buffalo Sabres down the Boston Bruins, 4-2.

Thomas Vanek scored the game-winner at 4:26 of the third period with his second goal, and Roy scored the game's final goal -- his 19th of the season -- at 15:46 of the third.

Andrew Ference and Patrice Bergeron (power play) both scored in the first period to give Boston a 2-0 lead.

Buffalo tied the contest, 2-2, as Ales Kotalik and Vanek scored early in the third.

Vanek also assisted on Roy's goal, and Ryan Miller stopped 20 of 22 shots for the Sabres, who secured their 52nd win of the season, tying the franchise-record set last year.

They have 111 points, passing Detroit for the NHL lead.

Hannu Toivonen gave up four goals on 33 shots for the Bruins, who suffered their fifth straight loss, and the 10th loss in their last 11 games.
