Scotland's Kyle must do community service

STRANRAER, Scotland, April 3 (UPI) -- Scotland striker Kevin Kyle could be lost to the national team following a brawl that led him to be sentenced Tuesday to 120 hours of community service.

The court decision against Kyle marked the third time in three years he's been convicted. He was found guilty of fighting with another man and cursing police officers during a brawl that came after Scotland's Euro 2008 win over France.

He was found guilty of two counts of breaches of the peace but reportedly had been hoping to escape with just a fine. However, during Tuesday's sentencing, Sheriff James Smith said he ordered the community service because he didn't believe the fine would affect Kyle enough.

It was unclear whether Kyle would be allowed to play for Coventry this weekend and his status with the Scottish national team is also unknown.
