NHL: Florida 3, Washington 2 (OT)

SUNRISE, Fla., March 30 (UPI) -- Martin Gelinas scored his second power-play goal of the night at 2:01 in overtime Friday night to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 win over Washington.

Both teams scored once each in the first and second periods to create a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation.

Gelinas' other power-play goal came at 9:54 of the second.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Gregory Campbell scored the other goal, and Ed Belfour made 30 saves on 32 shots for the Panthers, who have won three in a row to move within four points of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jakub Klepis and Chris Clark scored, while Brent Johnson stopped 32 of 35 shots for the Capitals, whose road losing streak grew to eight games.
