AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 30 (UPI) -- Chauncey Billups had 32 points and 14 assists Friday night to lead the Detroit Pistons over New Jersey, 110-105.
Detroit out-scored New Jersey, 39-29, in the fourth quarter to raise its record to 46-26. New Jersey had out-scored Detroit, 34-26, in the third period to take a 76-71 advantage into the final stanza.
Rasheed Wallace had 22 points and six rebounds, and Antonio McDyess had 18 points and six rebounds. Tayshaun Prince added 15 points, a career-high nine assists and eight rebounds for the Pistons, who lead both the Eastern Conference and Central Division standings by three games over Cleveland.
The Pistons are 3 1/2 games ahead of third-place Chicago, which clinched a playoff berth with its win on Thursday.
Vince Carter led New Jersey with 27 points and seven rebounds. Josh Boone scored 17 points, Mikki Moore had 16 points and six rebounds, and Richard Jefferson added 13 points for the Nets, who are eighth in the East.
