NHL: Calgary 4, Minnesota 2

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 29 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla scored three goals in a game for the fifth time in his career Thursday night to lift the Calgary Flames past the Minnesota Wild, 4-2.

He scored twice in the first period, when Calgary jumped out to a 3-1 lead.

There was no scoring in the second period, but Iginla got the hat trick with a goal at 5:07 of the third to give Calgary what turned out to be an insurmountable three-goal advantage.

Daymond Langkow scored the other goal, and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 23 of 25 shots for the Flames, who extended their winning streak to five games.

It was their second win at Minnesota this week.

Brent Burns and Mark Parrish scored, while net-minders Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding combined to allow four goals on 19 shots for the Wild, who have split their last four games.

Minnesota has 98 points and trails Vancouver by one for the Northwest Division lead.
