With the win Vancouver clinched a playoff spot and with 99 points sits in the third spot in the Western Conference and first place in the Northwest Division, one point ahead of Minnesota.

Monday, Daniel Sedin and Sami Salo both had a goal and an assist and Matt Cooke also scored for the Canucks.

Jose Theodore made 26 saves for the Avalanche, who lost in regulation for the first time in 12 games. Colorado had posted a 10

2 record during that span.

The loss seriously dampened Colorado's playoff hopes. The team has 85 points and trails Calgary by seven points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference with six games remaining.
