NBA: Dallas 104, Atlanta 97

ATLANTA, March 25 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points Sunday and helped Dallas fight off an Atlanta comeback as the Mavericks downed the Hawks, 104-97.

Dallas ran its current winning streak to six games, having put together three streaks of at least 10 straight victories this season. One of those eventually reached a franchise-record 17 games.

The Mavericks have won 23 of 25.

Josh Howard also contributed 28 points and Jason Terry had 27. Dallas' top three scorers accounted for all but 21 of their team's points.

Atlanta lost its third straight. Josh Smith and Josh Childress both scored 21 for the Hawks.

Atlanta overcame a 23-point deficit to take a two-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Mavericks then went on a 9-1 run to regain control.
