PARIS, March 21 (UPI) -- Amelie Mauresmo, No. 4 in the world in women's tennis rankings, will be out about a month followed an appendectomy.
Mauresmo, in an entry on her Web site, said a sonogram ordered because she was suffering from abdominal pains indicated an inflamed appendix and doctors performed an appendectomy on Sunday.
She said she expects to be playing again in time for the European clay court season ahead of the May 27-June 10 French Open. Mauresmo hasn't played since finishing second in the Dubai Duty Free Women's Open in February.
