SPOKANE, Wash., March 18 (UPI) -- Nick Young helped USC get off to a quick start Sunday and the Trojans went on to crush Texas, 87-68, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament East Region.

USC moved into the regional semifinals, where it will face top-seeded North Carolina in East Rutherford, N.J.

Young scored 22 points, Daniel Hackett had 20 and Taj Gibson chipped in 17, as the Trojans (25-11) established a school record for most wins in a season.

An eight-point run gave the Trojans a 10-point lead in the opening five minutes and they fought off all Texas charges the rest of the way.

The Longhorns closed to within four in the first minute of the second half, after which USC went on a 19-3 tear to put the game away.

Kevin Durant led Texas (25-10) with 30 points.
