Seahawks sign TE Marcus Pollard

SEATTLE, March 14 (UPI) -- The Seattle Seahawks have signed free agent tight end Marcus Pollard to a one-year contract.

The 12-year NFL veteran likely will have a chance to become Seattle's starting tight end in training camp after Jerramy Stevens was arrested in Scottsdale, Ariz., early Tuesday morning.

Stevens was charged with driving under the influence and cited for marijuana possession.

It was his third arrest since signing with the Seahawks in 2002.

"My reaction is disappointment," Jim Lambright, Stevens' college coach at the University of Washington, told the Seattle Times. "(It's) just a waste of such great potential. (He has) a wonderful family and great athletic ability that isn't going to reach its potential."

Pollard played 10 seasons with Indianapolis before playing for Detroit in 2005 and 2006.

His most productive season was in 2001, when he caught 47 passes for 739 yards and eight touchdowns.

In his career, Pollard has 38 touchdowns on 321 receptions for 4,007 yards in 177 games.
