NHL: Chicago 7, Phoenix 5

GLENDALE, Ariz., March 11 (UPI) -- Jeff Hamilton had a five-point game Saturday night as Chicago beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 7-5.

His effort included his second career hat trick (three goals) and two assists.

His first goal came in the first period, when Chicago scored five times to build a 5-3 lead.

He scored on the power play and unassisted in the second as the lead grew to 7-3.

Also in the first, Hamilton assisted on both goals scored by Patrick Sharp.

Tuomo Ruutu and Mikael Holmqvist also scored goals; Rene Bourque had three assists; Denis Arkhipov had two assists; and Nikolai Khabibulin gave up five goals on 37 shots for the Blackhawks, who tied a season-high three-game winning streak.

Mathias Tjarnqvist had a goal and an assist; Bill Thomas, Mike Zigomanis, Jeff Taffe and Daniel Carcillo all scored once; Derek Morris had three assists; while Mikael Tellqvist and Curtis Joseph combined to allow seven goals on 31 shots for the Coyotes, who have lost five straight.
