Henrik Lundqvist gave up a goal on 31 shots for the Rangers, who extended their winning streak to three games in a row.

Chris Simon scored the lone goal for the Islanders, but will be remembered more for his ejection after a vicious hit on the Rangers' Ryan Hollweg.

Simon's ejection came after he was given a penalty for what officials determined was an intent-to-injure.

Rick DiPietro made 28 stops on 30 shots for the Islanders, who have lost three of four.

Islanders captain Alexei Yashin was back after he had been sidelined for 16 games with a knee injury.

Both Rangers goals came on the power play.
