"Javier and his representative made a proposal that we felt was fair and made sense for us over the next several seasons," said White Sox General Manager Ken Williams.

Last year, in his first season with the White Sox, Vazquez was 11-12 with a 4.84 ERA and 184 strikeouts in 33 games. He is the only major league pitcher to record at least 10 wins, 30 starts and 150 strikeouts in each of the last seven years.

For his career, Vazquez is 100-105 with a 4.34 ERA in 290 games over nine seasons with Montreal, the New York Yankees, Arizona and the White Sox.
