SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 1 (UPI) -- Defensive end Bryant Young, the last remaining member of the San Francisco 49ers' Super Bowl XXIX team, has re-signed with the NFL team.
Young, 35, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection after having been taken by San Francisco in the first-round of the 1994 NFL draft. Last season, Young started 16 games and had 60 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He is third on the 49ers' all-time list with 83 career sacks.
"We are excited about retaining Bryant as a member of the 49ers team," San Francisco Coach Mike Nolan said. "We were diligent in our efforts to retain Bryant as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and we are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement that reflects his value to the team while addressing future needs of the club."
Young is the only 49er left from the team that won the Super Bowl XXIX on Jan. 29, 1995, with a 49-26 victory over the San Diego Chargers.
