ACAPULCO, Mexico, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Julia Schruff highlighted a day of upsets Wednesday, eliminating top-seed Marion Bartoli in the second round of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel tennis tournament.
Schruff recorded a 6-0, 6-4, victory to join second-seed Tathiana Garbin in the third round.

Garbin, runner-up at last week's tour stop in Bogota, moved on when Zsofia Gubacsi was forced to retire in the second set.
Both the third and fourth seeds were eliminated as well.
No. 3 seed Martina Muller lost to Emilie Loit, 6-2, 6-2, while No. 4 Severine Bremond was ousted by Alize Cornet, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
